Towns accept Patronage for Nations
15 Styrian and Upper Austrian towns support the FIS Ski-Flying World Championships 2016 at the Kulm. Each town will be a patron to one of the nations competing. On Tuesday, November 24th, 2015 in the starting house on top of the Kulm jump, each town drew a country they will support. The Organization Committee President, Hubert Neuper, welcomed countless mayors and/or their deputies to this special event so that they could pick the country themselves.
"Each town will be at the opening ceremony on Thursday with at least 50 people. This again reflects the diversity of our region. They are somewhat of a host for the team they have drawn. I want to thank the communities again for their great support, "said OC President, Hubert Neuper.
"We are a region, the Salzkammergut. Bad Mitterndorf is our neighboring community, so it is quite clear that at such a major event we all come together and help one another," said Franz Frosch , Mayor of Bad Aussee. To jump down the monstrous hill on the Kulm, no one would do it in spite of good unity. "When you see this, it is madness. For the sport though it is great that there are such people," said Hannes Dolleschall, Mayor of Judenburg, after the drawing. Even from Graz, city council, Kurt Hohensinner, was a resounding no. "I always look to join all sports, but here I must unfortunately pass. Big respect to the athletes that fly 200 meters and more."
